A great joint for the “buongustai” to titilate their taste buds in La Tana dei Golosi, literally, The Glutton’s Cave, is another of those Roman restaurant/cultural associations whose aim is to bring the best of Lazio regional cooking to the table, wines included. Though you will notice more familiar dishes on the menu, there is also a range of more unusual, but no less typical regional food which deserve a mention. Fried brains and rabbit served with wild rocket and stewed cannelini beans for those who aren’t offended by grisly body parts, or, perhaps more palatable to most, grilled yellow perch with fresh mint and lemon dressing. There are also several other “degustazione” menus covering regions such as Campania, or Tuscany, and the wine list, is rather a wine book - so unless you’re a wine boffin, a head sommelier, or simply a very, very diligent reader, I would ask for some waiter’s advice. If for no other reason than they are all extremely friendly and helpful and I find it’s always added entertainment to hear Italians speaking English.
